Doing life, the Ford Ranger way.

Connecting you with why the Ford Ranger helps so many Australians do life. From tradies to desert bikers and farmers to outback nurses. Let’s go.

December 19, 2023·11 min read

More than ever combining hard work with family luxury, it’s no surprise the popularity of the ute segment continues to rise. Giving the iconic Toyota Hilux a real nudge at the top of the sales table, the Ford Ranger is doing much to drive this.

This is hardly surprising when you consider it was recently redesigned and reengineered from the ground up. The next gen chassis, suspension, new engines, large touchscreen and tech, pretty much making it an overall new car. A closer look reveals it just doesn’t have the legacy features in a new body that some brands carry-over such as older engines and suspensions. A clear standout feature is the towing capacity. The Ranger Wildtrak provides the power to haul 3,500 kg in total luxury.

The Ford Ranger really is the complete package. The ute driving experience was redefined, and that’s a great fit with Car Connect’s own total service offering and focus on redefining the complete car ownership experience.

If you’re looking to buy new and you're searching for cars for sale online or a specific car for sale in Sydney, hopefully this  Article on the Ranger will help you make a top choice.

Ok, let’s get to it.

First ute to win Drive 2023 Overall Car of the Year

Already the Ranger is no stranger to success. In fact it is the first ute to win Drive’s Car of the Year. The award was given to the entire Ranger series, not just one high-spec single model. So whichever Ranger fits your lifestyle you can be sure you’re on to a winner.

Ranger has also taken top slot in a string of other high-profile motor industry awards including Car Expert Ute of the Year and Drive Best Ute of the Year

Individual models have also been singled out as top performers in key areas.

Ranger Raptor-Potent power and off-road agility

  • Car Expert Best Non 4-cylinder: UTE off-road

  • Car Expert Best value UTE drag race

  • Drive 2023 Best off-road UTE

Ranger Wildtrak -Class-leading 3.5-tonne towing capacity

  • Car Expert Best value UTE dyno

  • Car Expert Best value UTE towing

Ranger XLT –Dual cab and 4x4 versatility

  • CarSales 2022 Best Dual Cab 4x4

Ford certainly isn’t resting on its laurels. The next-generation Ranger is slated for release in 2024. Expect even more rugged good looks, clever use of space, and high-tech features.

Designed to be desired

The Ford Ranger’s wide stance and sculpted athletic design emphasise the point that the trusty ute is no longer just a functional choice. It’s an aspirational brand choice. Its good looks are turning the heads of new car buyers and putting it on their shortlist up there with other luxury car brands.

The appeal goes beyond the pull of features like the V.6 Wildtrak’s towing capacity and the tech such as the large touch screen in most variants. A big reason why the Ranger has been so successful was its all-new look. It’s such a good-looking Ute. And more people are aspiring to own one.”

A closer look

Bigger, Tougher, Smarter. Locally designed and engineered by Ford Australia, the Ranger gives new car buyers, not only ute loyalists, a lot to think about, work with and also play with. Here are a few highlights from the Ford website that are true to what our Car Connect new car buyers are sharing with us. And here’s the link to dig deeper into the full model range, specs, customisation options and next-level car ownership support services such as the Ranger Learning Hub.

The low down on the high-level advancements you get across the 2023 Ranger series. The big* is some of the features below depending on which model you settle on. But this should give you some flavour without being overloaded with disclaimer after disclaimer.

Power and capability

The 2023 Ford Ranger is available with a choice of four different turbocharged powertrains ranging from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel to a 3.0-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo petrol V6. Get the power, torque and economy you need for work, family and play, paired with automatic transmissions that are more refined, responsive and efficient. Selectable Drive Modes optimise performance for different surfaces, road conditions and vehicle usage. The Ranger Wildtrak has a class-leading 3,500 kg max towing capacity.

Styling

Ranger's muscular and athletic design is clear in the fender flares and larger wheel arches and 50mm increased track width for a dramatic sculpted effect. The wheelbase has also been increased to create less overhang at the front and to enhance off-road ability. Flanking the bold badged grille, the C-Clamp shaped headlamps give Ranger that unmistakable Built Ford Tough look. All body styles now also fit a ‘Euro’ size pallet

Versatility

On double cab models, fold-flat rear seats and fully reclining front seats provide flexibility to carry larger items or relax in the cabin in greater comfort. You can also enjoy the extra power where you need it for work, family and play with a dual battery accessory kit.

Workplace optimised options

The optional roof-mounted switch bar runs 6 switches allowing you to seamlessly control accessories such as light bars, winches, and air compressors from the comfort of the driver’s seat.

Zone Lighting including headlamps, external mirror puddle lamps and rear box lamps, work together to illuminate the perimeter of the vehicle so you can keep working or setting up a campsite at night.
The integrated touchscreen or FordPass App controls the zones remotely.

Safety

In a first for Ranger, there are now 9 airbags standard. Integrating a network of safety features and smart driver assist technology, the range achieves the maximum ANCAP safety rating of 5 stars. The sophisticated array of safety features and options extends to a 360-degree Camera , Pre-collision Assist, and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (iACC) with Stop & Go, Traffic Sign Recognition and Lane Centring. A standout on pick-up models is Blind Spot Monitoring with Cross Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage.

Quick flick through the extra tech

This is no stock standard workhorse. The Ranger is a high-tech thoroughbred. The embedded modem means you get a fully loaded stack of smart thinking. Along with the luxurious interior features, all models feature a fully digital instrument panel that is managed by Ford’s SYNC4 system.

The focal point is an integrated, hi-tech LCD touchscreen. View your vehicle status and receive health alerts such as tyre pressure information via FordPass Connect. Locate and unlock your vehicle, activate Zone Lighting (where fitted) and remote start to activate the climate control to the last used setting.

Simply connect to Apple CarPlay™and Android Auto™ and pop you phone on Ranger’s charging pad for seamless wireless connection.

Yes, all round you’re good to go.

Bringing you the Ranger life

To live the ‘Ranger life’ is a life without limits. These are Ford’s words not ours. Yet they’ve certainly gone a long way to prove it. Sending a Ranger out on an epic 16,000 km journey around the entire country and inviting everyday Australians to see how it helps them do life.

It’s a totally enthralling journey and an eye-opening video  Article.

Going way beyond conventional ute worksites, to show how the Ranger adds to the lives of desert racers, tradie surfers, bush wildlife crusaders, marine biology students, sugar cane farmers and outback nurses. And that’s just for starters.

Let’s find it for you

With such popularity can come scarcity. That’s even before you factor in the post-Covid long delivery time headaches for many brands and models. The headaches are easing, but it’s still not always easy to find exactly the right Ranger – especially a new Raptor or V.6 Wildtrak in Australia.

Yet we all want less hassles and haggles, right? This is where an online new car buying platform such as Car Connect comes into its own. As an Australian leader in this space for over a decade Car Connect has deep relationships with dealerships country-wide. This provides wider access to more stock typically at fleet or below recommended retail prices. It’s the way of the future and Car Connect presently services over 500 customers monthly in this way.

“Searching far and wide for exactly the right model, sometimes means it could come from far away. Yet Car Connect customers don’t have to drive there. We find it , check it out and deliver it to their door.”

James, is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Got a great price from my previous vehicles and connected me in to my new Ranger, Raptor. With early results and not long wait. Thank you James, looking after me even in your own family time due to our Sydney-Perth time 3 hrs differences.
