Overview
When it comes to standard inclusions and onboard features, this is where the Octavia shines. On all models, as standard, you’re getting a 10 inch touchscreen housing an infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, virtual cockpit, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, LED headlights and more. As you move up the range, you’re gaining parking sensors, fog lights, matrix headlights, heads up display, three zone climate control and an optional luxury styling pack for a premium trim.
The top of the line RS model adds a sporty touch to the base Octavia, with tuned performance, suspension and handling, 19 inch alloy wheels and sports bucket seats reminiscent of a hot hatch rather than a sedan. In true Skoda fashion, you really do get a lot for your money when it comes to technology and features, as well as excellent attention to detail.
What we love
From the outside, the Octavia presents as sharp and clean, exhibiting premium European styling which is timeless and inoffensive. The addition of LED/matrix headlights, a sporty 3D grille and a sharply angled lighting arrangement (depending on which variant you choose) bring in a refreshing modern and sleek aesthetic. The design language is continued into the cabin, with a modern and clean looking, high quality cabin and finish trim. Skoda’s attention to detail is prevalent throughout the cabin and dash, where tactile dials and satisfying material finishes give the interior a very premium, luxurious feel. The lift back tailgate has the benefit of opening up to a huge 600 litre boot offering tonnes of space and storage for even the more ambitious road trips. The Octavia is a surprisingly spacious vehicle both in terms of passenger comfort, and storage space, making it an incredibly versatile and practical everyday drive.
Safety
When looking for a family car, driver and passenger safety is paramount. The 2022 Octavia is an extremely safe car, awarded a 5 star ANCAP safety rating and equipped with a vast array of active and passive safety features as standard across the range, including eight airbags, braking and traction control, emergency braking, pedestrian/cyclist detection, reversing camera, parking sensors and automatic parking. There is also an optional advanced safety package which adds blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, lane assist/lane keep, and much more.
What's it like to drive?
On the road, the Octavia sits low and naturally so does the driver, delivering an engaging and immersive driving experience. The Octavia offers a selection of drive modes operable via the digital dash, and has very well tuned suspension and steering for a very comfortable and responsive ride, making the Octavia a great pick for longer road trips.
